Will Iran become one of the four BRICS trade routes?
Ten News
By becoming a member of BRICS, Iran will have the opportunity to become one of the four trade routes of BRICS due to its privileged geographical location. South Africa has shown the greatest desire for Iran’s membership in BRICS as soon as possible.

According to Ten News, recently, Iran’s membership in BRICS has been seriously discussed among the members of this organization, and the relevant steps are being taken. Although the reaction of different countries, from the main members to the western powers, has been different. But it should be kept in mind that the geographical location of our country is different from many BRICS member countries, so experts consider Iran’s official presence in this organization as a major turning point in the trade relations of BRICS countries. Because according to many, Iran can become a trade crossroads of BRICS.

BRICS was formed in 2009 under the leadership of emerging economies, which form the five countries under the main core of this large international organization:

Brazil (B)

Russia (R)

India (I)

China (C)

South Africa (S)

Membership of Iran

In June 2023, the People’s Republic of China for the first time invited the president of our country from Iran to join BRICS. Before that, the foreign minister of India had expressed his desire for Iran’s membership in this organization. Iran, on the one hand, as a source of energy and capable manpower, and on the other hand, as a provider of transit between the main BRICS member countries, can play an effective role in this.

Iran’s transit position in BRICS
Due to Russia’s limited transit access to international transit bottlenecks (due to its unfavorable geographical location), as well as the Ukraine war and the uncertain future of Russia’s trade with the West, this country has a much greater need for easy access to favorable and cheap transit corridors. In addition to meeting its internal needs, it can easily trade with the Commonwealth countries. Therefore, Iran is considered the most suitable route for Russia to open waters, which connects this country to other BRICS members and practically to international waters.
